Her Legacy

Shonda Felicia Smith entered this world on the rainy day of March 14, 1974 to begin her assignment. Shonda’s early education began at Seton Hall University Day Care. It was there that she received her first diploma and moved on to further her education in The Newark Public Schools as the youngest first grader in her class. It was later that she graduated from Malcolm X. Shabazz High School at the age of sixteen. Upon graduation, Shonda enrolled in Ramapo College, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. It was her desire to become a doctor because of her passion to help others.

Shonda impacted so many lives and made a vast number of friends with her jovial spirit and quirkiness. She loved to celebrate any occasion that would bring family and friends together for laughs, games and fun.

Her loved of celebrations came from a special graduation gift that she received from her first cousins in the form of her very own “Pumpkinheads”. It was this gift that Shonda said completed her.

Shonda had many favorites. She was known by family members and close friends as “the movie girl”. Shonda’s love of movies caused her to remember lines from many of her favorites. Most things Disney captured Shonda’s heart. Anyone that knows Shonda knows that she was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. She lived, breathed and slept Black & Gold. Shonda was the president of the WLSBBG fan club that included 515 members.
